It seemed unlikely until recent years that a prominent Xbox exclusive like Sea of Thieves from Microsoft would debut on PlayStation. Currently, however, the popular multiplayer pirate adventure by Rare is not only accessible on the PS5 but is also continuously performing exceptionally well.
Sony recently disclosed charts on the PlayStation Blog, reflecting that Sea of Thieves triumphed as the most downloaded PS5 game in Europe and the US/Canada regions. In the preceding month, this title also retained its leading position in Europe and secured third place in the US/Canada charts.
It is worth noting that the most downloaded game on the PlayStation 4 across these regions was another game under Microsoft’s banner, Minecraft. This signifies Microsoft's increasingly impressive performance on Sony's platforms.
Not long ago, Xbox chief Phil Spencer confirmed Microsoft's plans to sustain releases for gaming platforms other than Xbox. The tech giant has publicly declared two multiplatform releases in the pipeline: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, set to roll out this October, and DOOM: The Dark Ages, expected to be released the following year.
